How TheGoodHarbour Works
A transparent ecosystem designed to bridge the trust gap between generous donors, proactive volunteers, and verified NGOs making a real difference.
Our Core Pillars
Dynamic Trust Scores
Every NGO starts with a rigorous verification process. Once onboarded, our algorithm calculates a real-time Trust Score ranging from 0 to 100 based on their profile completeness, compliance with regulations (like 80G/12A), and active community engagement.
Transparency Dashboards
Donors shouldn't have to guess where their money goes. NGOs use our internal dashboards to log monthly expenditures and incomes. These sync directly to their public profiles, ensuring every Rupee is tracked and visible to the community.
Automated Tax Receipts
Whether you donate online or an NGO records your offline contribution, a standardized 80G Compliant tax receipt is instantly generated. Donors can access, download, and track a consolidated view of their philanthropic impact from their personal profiles.

How We Calculate the Trust Score
Every NGO on TheGoodHarbour carries a Trust Score from 0β100. Itβs not a rating you self-report β itβs automatically calculated from verifiable signals across five independent pillars, updated in real-time as the NGO operates.
Legal Compliance
Registration number, PAN, valid 80G certification, 12A tax exempt status, and platform admin verification.
Financial Transparency
Regular expense logging, healthy fund utilisation (50β90% is ideal), and active fundraising campaigns with public goals.
Community Engagement
Followers, events organized, volunteer registrations, and community posts β all measured on a log scale to prevent gaming.
Donation Health
Diversity of donors, frequency of giving months, and average donation sanity check. Offline and online donations count equally.
Profile Completeness
Mission, description, contact details, address, photos, authorized signatory, and founding year β 1 point each.
π± Fair to new NGOs: Organizations registered within the past 12 months are shown as "New NGO" rather than penalized for not yet having followers or donation history. The Trust Score is designed to reward genuine activity β not just age or size.
The All-Time Social Credit Score
Your Social Credit is a cumulative reflection of your lifetime impact on the platform. It goes beyond money, rewarding your time, engagement, and how widely you distribute your support.
Volunteer Hours
Time is invaluable. Volunteer hours are rewarded heavily, but they are scaled by the NGO's Trust Score to ensure genuine impact. An hour at a highly trusted NGO holds the most weight.
Financial Donations
We use a tiered points system that prevents billionaire dominance. Smaller donations earn more points per Rupee than massive lumpsums, keeping the leaderboard accessible to everyone.
The Diversity Multiplier
The secret to a high score! The more unique NGOs you support (either with time or money), the higher your global multiplier becomes, incentivizing you to discover new causes.
Unlock Badges & Titles
As your score grows, you'll advance from a "Newcomer" to a "Visionary", unlocking beautiful profile badges to showcase your philanthropic journey.
